Hi! My name is Vicki. I am raising money to pay off a debt at a university in order to receive my transcripts and further my education.
I have had the dream of being a teacher since I was in third grade. As I grew up life did not always treat me kindly. As an adult I got married, had children and worked hard for everything that I had.
I knew that I needed to get back into the educational mind set, so I enrolled into an adult education program and recieved my high school diploma. Then I started college.
I became a single mom and widow but continued to pursue my dream. I attended a university, worked two jobs and was raising two wonderful children.
Five years into the process of becoming an elementary teacher and receiving my degree I was notified that I was taking too long to complete my degree and would no longer be able to get financial aid.
The only thought I had at the time was that I was done. I could not pay for college. Thats was years ago. Since then I have relocated, attended a local college and graduated with an A.A.S. in Early Childhood Education with HONORS.
While my struggles in college seemed to have worked out, my dream is not completely coming true. I still want to pursue a teaching degree but there are a few minor road blocks. I have thousands of dollars in student loans, that I pay on monthly. I have an outstanding debt to a university that prevents me from obtaining my trnascripts. This debt if not paid will be the reason that I cannot move forward in my education. I will lose credit for all my years of study, which will be about 60 credit hours.
I have talked to the college, the collection agency and the attorneys who are wanting to file papers on me for the $6098.00 that I owe. I have considered filing bankruptcy since I cant get a loan and I do not know where else to turn.
I am hoping that I can raise the funds necessary to obtain my transcripts so that I can further my education by obtaining a bachelors degree in education. A higher level degree would open many doors for me and my family. I would have a better paying job and possibly medical insurance.
The greatest benefit of a teaching degree would be to the children as I would be able to bring to them a great teacher with lots of experience and knowledge.
I cannot emphasize how much donating to my campaign would mean. I have had this dream for forty years and you can be a part of making it come true! Thank you for taking the time to read my story. A huge thank you for contributing to my GoFundme campaign.
