Book List Challenge Underway!

Recently I posted a book list - "100 Books Every Child Should Hear before Kindergarten". This list was put together by https://growingbookbybook.com/ 

 I discovered that only a few of the books on the list have been included in my daily read alouds. 
To mark off a book from the list we decided to read:

                                                "The Mitten" by Jan Brett

The children enjoyed the book. They were amazed at the number of animals that crawled into one mitten, to stay warm. After reading the story we engaged in three activities: 

1) How many counting frogs/ bears will fit in your mitten?  

This was a small group- counting and predicting activity.

2). "I wear mittens/gloves" graphing activity

                       

3). Name tag writing activity - children wrote their names and the number of animals in their mittens for the graph.

Other activities stimulated the minds of the children as they were curious about animals that like winter weather. That led to polar bears and penguins in our winter sensory table.
